The first New Moon of 2018. It is happening the 17th of January 2018 at 3:18 AM (CET +1:00), or the 16th of January at 9:18 PM (EST -5:00), in 26° Capricorn 55’.
This is the first full Lunation of 2018 (the past Full Moon of 2018 was part of the Lunation cycle that started with the New Moon in Sagittarius in December 2017).
This intensity. We all have felt it. This year has started with strong intensity, manifested through different ways in each of our lives. We began with this powerful conjunction of Jupiter and Mars in Scorpio, which is still active. In addition, with the ingress of Saturn in Capricorn, we have also felt the strong pressure from life responsibilities (work, payments, duties, taxes, stress, dissatisfaction, etc.)
So, with a New Moon in Capricorn? Hmm, a quite interesting way to begin the Lunations of 2018. Let us dive into the symbolism! But first, let us welcome the New Moon in Capricorn.
So what we see in this special configuration is the power of Capricorn in all its splendour: Saturn, Mercury, Pluto, the Sun, the Moon and Venus. And more: Jupiter and Mars still conjoined in Scorpio, but forming a sextile towards the Sun/Moon/Pluto. This sextile changes the tone of this configuration: the possibility to transform ourselves.
The Lunation itself occurs with a conjunction in the last decanate of Capricorn, in square to Uranus in Aries. The feeling of responsibility and duty is taking us over. It can be very overwhelming when we add difficult economic situations, or when the job is just feeling pretty bad lately. Issues at home, issues with the boss, issues with the government and the whole structure of the external authority. It call be too much. And it can be a difficult way to begin this year.
The last decanate of Capricorn takes the colour of Virgo, so we feel pressured in work, which in return makes us feel inclined to work even harder. And don’t be surprised, we might feel responsible for so many things in the present moment. In some cases, we might feel guilty or blame ourselves when something goes wrong.
With Venus there, the difficulty to express what we feel or what is worrying us can be even greater. Silencing, suppressing worries, burying thoughts, not sharing what is taking over our minds.
Let us remember that life has its own ways, its own tides and its own flow. This is not constant. The seed-lesson carried with this Lunation is that of perseverance. If we come, and we take all the positive traits of what Capricorn is, we will find the possibility of a much greater and stronger person in us.
We must go through the way as life presents it to us. In this time, our mind should get a little more practical and more down to Earth. We must act calm, but we must engage our brains to find a way out of whatever we might be going through: a solution.
